The Gigantic Giant

There once was a poor girl named Kate. She had to do everything by herself. Her parents left her when she was three. Kate had long dark brown hair with light blue eyes and she had a gold necklace and it had a picture of her parents on it. She never took it off.

She loved to read. Once she went to the library and got a legend about a gigantic giant that came around every year. She didn’t believe it until she heard a rumble. The rumble got closer and closer. Everybody started to call out, “the giant!” Everybody started running in their houses. Kate didn’t have a home. She lived on the streets. She ran as fast as she could. It was too late. The giant caught her and some other people. He put her on his head. He was a stinky green gigantic giant. He was not nice. He was so tall that he went above the clouds to his kingdom where he took her off of his head. The giant threw her in his dungeon. She just sat there.

Then she heard a voice, “Is that you?”

Kate turned around and said, “Who are you?”

“We are your parents.”

Kate said, “then why did you leave me?”

“We didn’t leave you. The giant caught us. We have been up here ever since.”

“I wish somebody could help me,” said Kate.

Poof. A fairy godmother appeared. “Here I am.” “Now, where is Cinderella?”

Kate said, “Cinderella’s not here right now.”

“Then who are you?”

“I’m Kate and these are my parents, Jack and Mary. We’ve been stuck in this dungeon for a long time. Well, my parents have. I have been here for about thirty minutes. Can you help us?”

“Sorry, dear. I’m in the wrong story.”

“Wait, wait,” called Kate.

It was too late. The fairy godmother was gone.

The prisoners tried everything, but nothing worked. They looked like ants to the giant. Kate started digging. She found something. It was a lid to a tunnel that led to the sewer. She and everybody else got in. It was their only hope to get out. A few minutes later Kate found the lid at the other end. Her parents tried pushing her up. They weren’t strong enough. Kate fell back into the green gushy slime, but her parents didn’t give up. They kept on trying. She kept on trying. She finally made it to the top. Then she helped everybody else up.

Then there was a rumble. The rumble came closer. It was the giant.

“Oh no. He found us,” said Kate.

The giant started to smash down houses and got hold of all the people, including Kate. While the giant had all the people, Kate said, “Why do you have to be so mean?”

The giant started to shriek. “I’m not evil; a witch cast a spell on me. I work for her, but since you broke the spell, I’m free. Thank you.”

“Who is she?” asked Kate.

The witch appeared. “I can cast you back anytime,” said the witch.

The giant turned into lots of things. Kate tried something she had never tried before. She stood right in front of the giant. She held up her gold necklace. She never knew what her gold necklace could do. But it turned that witch into a monkey.

The witch never turned back and Kate and her parents and the giant lived happily ever after.
