Changing Room
Nature invites the human eye to see
a chrysalis as a changing room, a pod,
a place where death and dawn agree.
Emerging Psyche stretches wide and free.
Below, a snake sheds skin, and awed,
the human mind looks on, forgets to flee.
A spider spins its inwards into three
skeins of silken net, strong and broad:
a place where death and dawn agree.
And when we plunge our hands into the sea,
pearls, hidden, come from oysters, flawed.
Nature invites the human eye to see
a fallen seed unfold a massive tree.
From oaken arms, a hooting owl, loud:
a place where death and dawn agree.
Imagination moves, the mind applauds
when death yields ground and dawn gives nod.
Turning inside out is destiny.
Metaphors make the body of God.
