The Grapevine Art & Soul Salon
Views and Reviews
Our readers will have noticed that The Grapevine reviews are not written to prepare the public for attending a performance or an exhibition, but rather to generate conversation, sometimes well after a closing, or, in the case of a book or a film, some years into its release or publication, when the experience has had time to ripen. That choice is partly necessitated by our production schedule, which does not allow the timely reviewing you find in a daily or weekly publication, but also by temperament. Members of our staff generally prefer to write only about things we like (I should say things we like a lot), so that when a review appears in The Grapevine, the reader can be sure the subject has been selected as something to get worked up about.
